adidas launched the X in 2015 as the pure speed half of its two-boot strategy, alongside the control-focused ACE. Over the following decade it ran through X15, X16, X17, X18, X19, X Ghosted, X Speedflow and X Crazyfast — each one lighter and more aggressive than the last, with skeletal Speedframe soleplates and paper-thin uppers. Mohamed Salah, Karim Benzema and Son Heung-min all wore it. The line handed over to the returning F50 in 2024, which makes the X a closing chapter worth owning.
