SG — Soft Ground
Soft Ground (SG) boots use metal screw-in studs — typically six, sometimes combined with moulded studs in an SG-Pro layout — built for wet, heavy, muddy pitches. The longer metal studs sink further into soft turf and find grip where moulded FG studs would slide. Because the studs are replaceable, you can change stud length as conditions change through the winter. SG boots should not be worn on dry, hard ground: the studs will not penetrate, and the pressure points can be uncomfortable.
